The Legend

The legend of the Oak Island treasure dates back to the late 18th century when three teenage boys discovered a strange depression in the ground on the island. They began digging and encountered layers of logs and various booby traps. The idea of treasure buried beneath the island has captivated people for centuries.

The Money Pit

The central focus of the legend is the “Money Pit,” a mysterious shaft or hole that has been the subject of numerous excavation attempts over the years. As diggers descended deeper into the pit, they encountered various obstructions, including layers of logs and layers of water. These obstacles have led to speculation that the pit was deliberately engineered to protect something valuable.

The Oak Island Association

Over the years, various individuals and groups have undertaken excavation efforts on Oak Island, forming what is known as the Oak Island Association. This group has included treasure hunters, entrepreneurs, and investors who believed in the existence of a valuable treasure.
